The Shanty is one of the oldest continuously operating bars in Cardiff-By-The-Sea and is a mainstay for many locals in North County San Diego. Established in 1964, The Shanty stands in its original location, just north of San Elijo State Beach and is a welcome relief to many locals and neighborhood regulars. The large wooden bar, walls and character have largely remained unchanged for over 50 years.
The Shanty distinguishes itself from modern-day bars and makes it one of the most popular watering holes in North County San Diego. Throughout the year locals and tourists drop in for cold beer, generous cocktails, a break from the beach or just for great conversation with friendly neighbors and legendary bartenders who are happy to introduce themselves and share their stories.
